Hindsight + Foresight=VISION: HIV+ Women Lead the Journey to Ending the Epidemic
Workshop Global Village – Women’s Networking Zone
Host Organization: SisterLove, Inc
Description: The 2020 Leading Women’s Society is a unique body of women who are actively involved in leadership roles on behalf of their communities locally, nationally and internationally, and they are all living with HIV or AIDS. The 2020 LWS Honors women who have longevity in both leadership and being HIV+ – 20 years or more for US members and 10 years or more for global members. Our goal is to include at least 2,020 women from at least 20 countries by the year 2020. The WNZ is the ideal venue to begin and to build this growing group of super and dynamic women. The aim of the 2020 LWS is to document the stories and experiences of HIV+ women leaders as a means to learn and share the framework of leadership among women whose contributions will be part of the legacy of those who fought for women’s human rights and for eliminating the burden of gender inequities in HIV and AIDS responses. We believe that respecting and protecting women’s lives (stories) and honoring and promoting women’s leadership (voices) are keys to ending the epidemic.
